The following letter was sent to us from the New York State Nurses Association:
-------------------------
We’re Overworked, Underpaid, Disrespected and Ignored
Now When It Comes To Union Busting,
All Of Sudden We’re Supervisors!
Not only has Benedictine Hospital’s management refused its nurses’ request to agree to a fair and free union election, the hospital is attempting to deprive us of the very right to vote.
We are nurses at Benedictine Hospital who are outraged that Hospital management is doing everything it can to prevent us from voting in a union election, which is our right under labor law. The hospital is using stalling tactics at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), one of which is the claim that some 74 nurses who do bedside nursing are supervisors, a claim that is absurd on its face.
We will not stand for this attempt to divide and defeat us. We demand that Benedictine Hospital immediately drop its claim that these nurses are supervisors (as well as other claims meant to delay the vote.) We demand that Benedictine Hospital begin playing fair in this election process for the good of its nurses, for the good of its patients, for the good of the hospital and for the good of the community.
