Democrats fight for the Middle Class

If you don't want to take our word for it, take a close look at this report from the nonpartisan Drum Major Institute. Their report says it all - and why we need more Democrats in the County, State and Federal Legislatures!

Governor David Paterson

We at the Saugerties Dems welcome our David Paterson as our Governor. His conciliatory style and good humor will be a nice change. While we all had high hopes for Eliot Spitzer, he never really did effectively make the transition from AG to Governor. Paterson's experience in the Senate provides him a perspective on the "doable", which is ultimately all that can ever happen.

We also take note of his blindness. The cause of those with differing abilities will be greatly furthered, if only by his example. Few of us can claim to remember every conversation and person we've met, nor would we be able to memorize the halls of the labyrinth that is our state capitol.

David, good luck!

Ulster County Housing Consortium

Ulster County Housing Consortium
Invitation to a Public Forum:
A Review of Housing Challenges in Ulster County

The Ulster County Housing Consortium has developed a report entitled Priority Strategies to Support Housing Development in Ulster County. The report explores the extent of the housing challenges facing the communities and the county and actions available to meet them.

The Report will be presented at a public forum to be held on March 20 at 6:30 pm in the Saugerties Senior Center. The Consortium is asking for your comments to ensure that the Report is appropriately focused and responsive. The Ulster County Legislature is considering adoption of the report as an element of the county’s comprehensive plan. Your comments are an important part of that decision.

The presentation will include an overview of the regulatory and programmatic opportunities and barriers facing housing development; explore the roles of housing providers and regulators; assess community acceptance issues, and, most importantly, outline a responsive action plan that can establish a healthy housing mix within Ulster County.

The Saugerties Senior Citizen Building is located on the corner of Market and Robinson Street in the Village of Saugerties. Public is urged to attend. FMI, visit the Ulster County Planning Board website: www.co.ulster.ny.us/planning/housing.shtml or contact Dennis Doyle, Director, at 845-340-3340.
